KiB was honoured twice at Harrigay’s Loneliness Awareness Week Awards. Our young volunteer Ted Mayer was recognised for bringing joy and connection to older people, and our What’s On Calendars were praised for helping reduce loneliness and social isolation across the borough.
Established by Haringey Reach and Connect, the awards ceremony was held at Alexandra Palace. Community Connector Ashley Grey from Haringey Reach and Connect said:
‘These awards recognise the valuable, innovative work being done in our community and celebrate the joy of togetherness!’
Our first award of the night recognised our KiB Calendars (with over 100 regular activities for older people), and our twice-weekly online carers groups and intergenerational visits at Whittington Hospital. We were overjoyed when our young volunteer Ted was also recognised in a separate award ‘for his dedication and commitment to visiting patients, and performing for them’. Ted is 17 and has been volunteering with us since he was six years old.
